The San Antonio Spurs are going back in time -- to the early 1970s to be exact. No, they won't be going all the way back to the Dallas Chapparals days, but they will celebrate five NBA Hardwood Classic nights with Silver Saturdays. On those nights, you can see the Spurs in their silver retro uniforms.
Here we take a look back at some of the uniforms the Spurs have worn in their history.

Started with Silver
Long-time Spurs fans may remember center Coby Dietrick, here, sporting the silver duds the Spurs will wear on Silver Saturdays. The original uniform has block numbers that are reminiscent of the old block numbers on football uniforms. Notice the diamond on the shorts. |

The Iceman in Black
The Spurs beat the fashion fad by a couple decades as they were one of the first teams in the NBA to sport black uniforms. Note the silver piping and the black letters with the white outline. And no one wore it better than George "Iceman" Gervin, who was the first Spur to have his number retired. |

Silas is Golden
Spurs great James Silas wore the Spurs home whites with distinction. Silas is one of four Spurs players to have his jersey retired (all of whom are featured on this page). |

White Lettering
Later in the early '80s, the Spurs eschewed the black lettering with the white outline for plain white letters on the road black uniforms. Here is Johnny Moore (another Spurs who has had his number retired) sporting the look. |

The Fiesta Admiral
The Spurs went to these white home uniforms in the early '90s when they added the "fiesta" colors to the team's logo. Here, the Admiral, David Robinson, whose No. 50 was retired this season, sports the simple yet snazzy home whites. |

Fiesta Forever?
While the Spurs never incorporated the "fiesta" colors in the uniform itself, the colors did find their way onto the warmups. Here, Charles Smith wears the colors. |
